Reading this chapter was really helpful for me both in terms of reading other writers' work and in the creation of my own. A lot of value is placed on the complexity of sentence structure, both in academic work and in the creative venue of writing. The more complex your writing than, the more power, the more intelligent discussions of your work and, lets face it as student the, the higher the grade. The idea that prose discussed about the simple sentences having power was great for me as a writer. I think that as writers, there is a notion that there is a need to prove how good of a writer you are and the best way to do that is by how complex our sentences are. And the power of a simple sentence is really overlooked both in writing and reading other writers' work. Just by reading the few lines in the example I was really able to see the commanding effect the words had on me as a reader and writer and thought it refreshing.

I agree that the strength of simplicity in writing is often overlooked, and writers can become overindulgent. I thought Prose did a good job of illustrating that simple reporting of facts, often considered a negative in writing, can actually be useful to set a scene in a compelling way and allow for future elaboration. Not every element of a story needs to be "shown" in a verbose manner.
