of drops on your windows
quietly, persistent, polite
at first then louder and louder
until we were both awake
in the dark of the symphonic
tap tapping of the rain
who are you? In the dark
I can't recognize you
until I hear you breathing
and I am unlocked from
fear, from my uneasiness.
Sometimes I think I feel
you say "I love you" in the dark, or
with your eyes. Who are you?
Are you the rain?
I really liked your take on "The Rain." I picture two people lying in silence in the dark together, listening to the rain, but then the repetition of "who are you?" throughout the poem makes me wonder if I am reading it correctly...Is it a case of being close with someone else but never really knowing who they are?
