“My Name” by R. Brautigan
Brautigan’s “My Name” reminded me of a Bob Dylan song. The voice was distant with lines that one could relate to but overall meaning left to the readers/listener’s interpretation. Each description could be summarized into a few words whose words would vary amongst the observer. Leaving the observer curious to what the actual name is. I took it as the end to a relationship. The helLA journey on a freeway of emotions that leaves one abandoned. An Indian food dinner of gratefulness, regret, hatred, love, memories, and numbness. The ups and downs and ever so cliché terms we’ve all heard and read I dare not place here. Concluding in solitude with heartburn and a burning esophagus.
