The format of this poem makes me think of a lind of uncordinated, drunken dance. I like the rhyming words that the author chose: breath, death, knickle, buckle. You get the impression that this child has formative memories of his father coming home, drunk and causing a scene in the house. There is something very sad, as if the author's warmest memories of his father come from when he wwas silly and drink; as if he was aching for warmth and humand contact, reaal emotion from his father but it could only be translated through an alcoholic blurb of affection.
The last staza: "you beat on my head with a palm caked with dirt, then waltzed me off to bed still clinging to your shirt" the author shows that he loved his father. It was like he wanted to stay in the moment, clinging to his father, waltzing in the kitchen.
